Title Sequence Animation for this annual BBC event
We were extremely excited to be involved in The Royal Institution Christmas Lectures for 2 years running. This annual educational event dates back to 1825 and broadcast on BBC4 during Christmas, present scientific subjects in an informative and entertaining manner.
This year the lectures were titled ‘The Modern Alchemist’ and the guest lecturer was Peter Wothers. We were tasked to create the title sequence which involved bringing an old map of London to life and setting fire to a lecture theatre constructed out of paper, all 100% CG of course!
The lectures present scientific subjects to a general audience, include young people, The design of the map itself was inspired by the ‘Marauder’s Map’ in the Harry Potter movies which went very well with the Alchemist theme.
